Our Accommodation Officer will be pleased to arrange accommodation for you in London. We recommend Home-stay accommodation for those who wish to benefit from home comforts and a family atmosphere. Staying with a host family is probably the best way to practise your English and generally learn about the British way of life. All our accommodation is carefully chosen, visited and monitored to ensure that standards are maintained and to make sure you will be comfortable and happy. We keep in close touch with all our accommodation providers and students, and deal with any problems which might arise (although there are very few as our families are so nice). The accommodation is usually selected before you arrive. You can choose from bed & breakfast or bed, breakfast and dinner accommodation. If two students are placed with the same host family, we try to ensure they are not of the same nationality, and therefore English is spoken at all times! All host families are a maximum of 45 minutes by Underground from the School. The Accommodation Officers will do their best to find accommodation for you at short notice, but you should book accommodation at least four weeks before the date of your arrival. In addition to Homestay accommodation we can arrange student hostel accommodation, but owing to high demand we are unable to guarantee availability. Home-stay All accommodation is no more than 45 minutes commute from the school. There is a one off booking fee of 25 pounds. All prices are for one week.
Twin room is only available for two students coming together who wish to share a room. London Transport Card We can give you the application form and if you study for more than 14 weeks, you will receive a 30% discount on travelling on London Underground (The Tube) and London buses. This will save you £100 over 14 weeks for example. We can arrange for you to be picked up from the airport and taken to your accommodation The fee is £70 including one hour waiting time. Once you have completed an enrolment form for your course and reserved a place we can send you a Letter of Acceptance which will help you obtain a visa, should you need one to study in the UK. If you need to extend your permission to stay in England in order to continue studying at the School for a longer period, you will need to apply for a visa extension. Once a student visa has been obtained,(if you need one) you are allowed to work and you do not need a work permit, but there is a limit on the number of hours you are allowed to work during term time. If you do not require a visa there is no limit on the number of hours you are allowed to work. Our friendly administrative staff can help you to open your own personal bank account in the UK with most high street banks. For more information on how to open an account in the UK contact the office. In order to open a Bank Account in the UK, it is advisable to have a Bank reference from your country with you. Normally banks will give you a bank account if you enrol for a long course. If you are not enrolled on a long course, your UK employer should be able to help you open a bank account. Whilst studying with us you can use the School address to receive personal mail. In addition, for a small charge, you can send and receive faxes from the School offices. Please note we are unable to accept registered or recorded delivery on your behalf and cannot be held responsible for any mail which is mislaid. Insurance and personal security We advise you to insure your personal possessions and to arrange insurance against accident and loss before you come to England. Once in the UK we can advise you on personal safety. We also strongly recommended you have private medical insurance cover. At the end of your course you will receive a Certificate of Achievement from the School, provided you have attended classes regularly. This Certificate states how long you have studied and what level you have reached at the end of your course. Teachers’ reports are also available on request. Monthly progress tests are administered with teacher feedback to help you with your studies. Our Welfare Officer will assist you in making appointments with doctors or dentists if you need treatment during your stay. If you are not a national of an EU country or a country which has a reciprocal health agreement with Britain, you may have to pay for medical treatment in Britain. If you have any problems during your stay, please discuss them with our Welfare Officer. You can apply for an International Student Card which can be used to obtain discounts for travel and when you buy goods from certain shops. There is a small charge for this.
